Summer is almost here so this Summerstage Showcase is a must see to get you in the mood. Big names abound: Shuggie Otis and People Get Ready at the top of the list but the biggest thrill will be UK DJ-Soul Singer Ofie at Highline Ballroom on Thursday.
Monday – Wale – Bowery Ballroom – Second tier rapper and part of Maybach Music, waiting for that one biggie, is Rick Ross well again? Maybe he'll represent.
Tuesday – Johnny Winter – BB Kings – Annual residency for the blues man who never ages because he looked dead to start with.
Wednesday – Robert Gordon – BB King's – The rockabilly great celebrates Presley's birthday,
Friday – Dirty Projectors – Carnegie Hall – Should be good but better than MHOW last summer? I don't see how.
Saturday – Purity Ring – Webster Hall – Overrated indie band? Sure. But not by that much.
Sunday – Idina Menzel – Carnegie Hall – The wicked witch of the West! If it wasn't a Sunday, I would definitely go.
