Randy Blythe’s date with the Czech legal system is zooming close. Have you stopped following the story? It’s a bore right? I will say again if Blythe goes there to ‘clear his name’ he is an idiot. I wouldn’t travel over there unless abducted and thrown in a trunk.
The court has determined there is enough evidence to proceed with a case and the 41 year old is due to stand trial on February 4th.
"We have issued Randy Blythe with a court summons, and he is obliged to attend the hearing in person," said court spokeswoman Martina Lhotáková. "The trial will determine the culpability of Blythe, and his potential punishment."
He’s totally screwed.
Lamb of God Bassist John Campbell has offered up some insight via Rock Revolt Magazine. Most of us don’t stop to think of the toll it would take on the rest of the band. Their livelihood is at stake as well.
Campbell recalled, “The experience had such a profound effect on us as people, as his friends, as a band as a whole. We were seriously just so worried about him that all we really did was sit around in shock with our friends and families most of the time, waiting for word from his attorneys. It was excruciating emotionally and to say that it was a difficult and trying time is an understatement.”
Stage diving used to be as common as head banging at metal shows but ever since Pantera’s Dimebag Darrell was gunned down things have been a bit more cautious.
John said, “It can get scary sometimes. You just don’t know anymore. We’re just trying to work. Granted, we are a hard-core metal band, so people are going to mosh and jump around and stuff, but there has to be a limit. We don’t want to get hurt and we don’t want anyone else to get hurt either.”
Ah rock and roll being sanitized due to lunatics and accidents. Metal used to be dangerous, this latest event will have a trickledown effect across the scene and big fat security guys will be the ones inflicting the most pain (per usual). I consider the Worcester metal scene the most dangerous- those kids are fearless and its all in good fun. I see nothing good coming of this entire situation. I see Blythe in jail, I see Campbell and the rest out of a job and I see thug security guards hurting kids in the name of keeping the peace. Stay tuned it isn’t over yet.
