Merry Indie X-Mas, The Only Christmas Music You'll Want To Listen To

I hate, hate Christmas compilation albums that we get at this time of the year, and I don’t understand why artists keep recording these same Christmas song over and over, what are they thinking exactly? That they can bring a new twist on the same old tired song after the 10,000th version? Ouch! I have always refused to listen to this She And Him’s Christmas album released months before X-mas-time to even more capitalize on our ‘most wonderful time of the year’, and I think you will have to kill me before I listen to this new John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John holiday album! That Xenu-meets-Xanadu-line-dancing video was the last thing I want to see from these two creeps.

But there is some fun Christmas stuff out there, like this false-Indie Christmas compilation done by Bear Ceuse’ guitarist Adam Horne in collaboration with Animal New York. The parody songs are sung in the style of many indie artists and honestly, he nailed down everyone from Interpol to Beach House, Bon Iver, The XX, Mumford & Sons, Wavves, Gorillaz, Das Racist and the National.

Bon Iver’s eerie-boring croon, Beach House’s dreamy-druggy vocals, Interpol’s aloofness and Wavves’ fuzziness are all there, as well as, ‘Deck the Halls’, the last song that Das Racist recorded together! So enjoy the holidays.
