Only 10 ten days ago, after NBC’s sport commentator Bob Costas used his TV time to express his support for gun control laws following the murder-suicide of Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher, Ted Nugent took on Twitter to write a series of non-senses to ridicule Costas, such as ‘We thought Bob Costas was smarter than that. Only fools blame tools instead of human failings. Shame Bob’, or ‘Blaming guns for crime is like blaming helmuts for headbutts. WTF Costas! Uve lost it’
How does Nugent look now after the horror of what happened on Friday in Newtown, Connecticut? He didn’t dare to tweet more about the slaughter of 26 people including 20 children! Nugent is a scumbag as everybody in his right mind knows, but who else is there? Who else in music is promoting guns and militate against gun-control laws? Actually quite a lot of musicians!
Singer Toby Keith reportedly told the Boston Herald: ‘I'm all about good people, licensed and trained, carrying a concealed weapon. The bad guys are always gonna be carrying guns. There are so many guns in the U.S., and so many bad people that do harm with 'em. If just 1 percent of the non-felons would go get their concealed-weapons license and carry a gun where they can, 1 percent puts you in a pretty good position of being somebody that could save a bunch of people's lives.’
Oh yeah, and we can just shoot the hell of each other! How can people be naïve to the point of thinking that more guns will solve the problem? Hank Williams Jr., a gun collector and avid hunter, is another Nugent clone. But there are many examples of the connection between country stars and the NRA: for example, country man Trace Adkins was the NRA Country spokesman for January 2012, and extremely proud of it, ‘This is NRA Country’ named Gretchen Wilson its artist of the month in May 2012, Blake Shelton hosted the Second Annual NRA Country/ACM Celebrity Shoot in 2011 and in 2012 with Reba McEntire, and his wife Miranda Lambert even told Self magazine she was carrying a weapon for her own security.
If it is mostly a country-star-kind-of-thing, there are other examples outside of the genre, Anthrax's guitarist Scott Ian and Kid Rock said they were gun enthusiasts, and Megadeth rocker Dave Mustaine is probably another extreme example of mind-gone-crazy on guns, as he told the Birmngham News, ‘When people in Washington say they're going to take away my guns, they better bring theirs if they're going to take mine’.
Of course, lots of rappers are pro-guns too, and not surprisingly a lot of them were also shot dead in the streets! Ice-T declared in a interview with Channel 4 in London, ‘Yeah, it's legal in the United States. It's part of our Constitution. You know, the right to bear arms is because that's the last form of defense against tyranny. Not to hunt. It's to protect yourself from the police…if somebody wants to kill people well you know they don't need a gun to do it…United States is based on guns.’
And this is what is wrong with this kind of mentality, the US is based on guns? What a stupid thing to say, we have to recover from this idea of the past if we want to be regarded as a civilized country! The shooting that happened a few days ago, proves that it is way too easy to acquire a weapon, as the guns used by the killer were legally purchased and registered to his mother.
And the main arguments of all these people are totally false, first of all, it’s rarely a question of good and bad people, mass murderers usually have a mental illness, and secondly, guns are never used for defense, they are used by insane people who have a mental breakdown. Guns are not and shouldn’t be an American value or tradition. Or we’ll get more of these awful random shootings of innocent people.

I think guns are fine. I’m a professional musician, I went to school for a degree and I can tell you they are helpful. My junior year of college I got held up at knife point walking to a burger join just 2 blocks away from the concert hall after a sound check. It was at 4 pm too. If I had a gun with me I would have felt more safe, and probably wouldnt have almost lost my wallet. A group of people were walking towards us and he ran. I never felt so lucky.
