1. All I’ve Got To Do – The Beatles – Easily the most mature song on their second albu. Lennon, of cause, who speeds yp at the break as if, as Tim Reilly once noted, as though the entire claim of love and responsibility is real. Which it might not be with a vocal so fragle it seems bound to crack – Grade: A+

 2. Baby It’s You – The Beatles – Ridiculously great girl group cover, and not all Lennon, the back up by McCartney is terrific. So let’s say MOSTLY Lennon – Grade: A+

3 .Cry Baby Cry – The Beatles  Lennon finally nails his Edward Lear – AA Milne, chldrens obsessiveness to a dark Acid daymare – Grade: A+

4. Every Little Thing – The Beatle –  So fraught with tension, it is there constantly, just below the surface. For good reason, they’d just gotten back together after a break up. The guitar lick is Harrison – Grade: A

5. Girl – The Beatles – TIT – Grade: A+

6. I Don’t Want To Spoil The Party – The Beatles – Typical Lennon “I’ve had a druink or two and I don’t, care there’s ni fun in what I do when she’s not there”. Harrison’s coustic country licks are superb – Grade:A +

7. I’m A Loser – The beatles – One of the great self-portraits. If Lennon was aloser, where does that leave us? Ask Patrick Stickles – Grade: A+

8.The Word – The Beatles – This is it folks, here come the 1960s – Grade: A

9. Mr. Moonlight – The Beatles – Best bit? When Lennon gets on bended  knees – Grade: A

10.  You Can’t Do That – The Beatles – Maybe my fave early Lennon, translation one of my fave songs ever. “I’ve got something to say that might cause you pain…” Another strong word, that “pain” just jumps out the line – Grade: A+
