If you’re a fan of Beyonce – and I’m not – I bet you can’t wait about this new documentary about the B-girl directed by the queen majesty herself, which will air on HBO on February 16th. Really, who can do that except a person truly in love with herself?
A trailer-teaser has just been released, and it will not tell you much except that it starts with the deep question: ‘I always battled with, how much do I reveal myself?' and continues with images of her on stage, her pregnant belly and I forgot…
Obviously, this will be filled with unreleased and behind-the-scenes footage of Beyonce, live performance footage of Beyonce, intimate scene with Beyonce and her husband, the whole thing directed and even filmed by Beyonce on her own laptop! Why didn’t she battle more with the first question, and doesn’t she realize the monstrosity of the whole thing? I guess not, she is too much into herself. This documentary seems narcissistic to the highest level, it’s as if the woman was giving birth to herself and was having sex with herself while masturbating… sorry if that was vulgar but the whole thing is.
After the question, she ponders,.. ‘If I'm scared, be scared, allow it. Release it.’ Scared of what exactly? Scared of seeing more of her perfect face and photogenic ass? Yes I am.
Michael Lombardo, HBO president of programming, said this about the film:
‘Everybody knows Beyoncé's music, but few know Beyoncé the person. Along with electrifying footage of Beyoncé onstage, this unique special looks beyond the glamour to reveal a vibrant, vulnerable, unforgettable woman.’
But back in August, the Los Angeles Times had reported that Beyonce and her representatives were shopping the film to studios around Hollywood. Big studios and it’s just on HBO? No big theatrical release? Beyonce is just fine with that:
‘HBO has a history of pushing every boundary with class and authenticity. Some of my favorite shows are on HBO, so I am excited that my film will be part of its bold programming. This film was so personal to me, it had to have the right home.’
May be, but don’t tell me she wasn’t hoping for a theatrical release à la Katy Perry's ‘Part of Me’ or Justin Bieber's ‘Never Say Never’. See you in February Beyonce.
