The UK's Long National Nightmare Is Finally Over: Adele Drops Out Of Top 40

It only took 96 weeks but the end of the rule of Adele is nearing. While "Skyfall" wasn't a disaster it sure wasn't "Someone Like You" (# 7 on songs that will put you to sleep, as we reported yesterday!) and yesterday the unheard of was heard… Adele's 21 dropped out of the UK Top 40 after a mindboggling though not Dark Side Of The Moon mindboggling 96 weeks.

More than two years after first trashing the album, I am more than happy to remind you what a morose, spiteful, miserable emotional train wreck 21 is. It seems to stand up for every bad thought you have ever had about women being emotional dysfunctional nutcases. All she does is whine and sob and rage against terrible terrible lyrics. It is horrid.

And now the phenom is over and we can all go merrily on with her lives and as for Adele, married and pregnant and happy and, hardly coincidentally rich and famous, and I can pretend I've never heard of her. Till she releases a new album and tours…
