John Sykes, President of Clear Channel Entertainment Enterprises is the master mind behind this latest fund raiser for those affected by Hurricane Sandy. Along with the Weinstein Company and MSG they have the experience since they’re the same guys who produced “The Concert For New York City” after 9/11.
Interestingly enough The Rolling Stones will be in Brooklyn on December 8 and in Newark on the 13th and 15th . Think they’ll stop by to the 12/12/12 gig?
Sykes spoke to our good friends over at Rolling Stone magazines and told them
“There’s been talk of that. The challenge is they have a full-blown dress rehearsal on the 12th or the 13th because their Pay Per View special is on the 15th. But, yeah, there have been conversations with them. Mick and Keith came out for the Concert for New York City 11 years ago and played on their own. They’re well aware of the show and certainly have been invited to be part of it in any way, shape or form of the band.”
Rolling Stone reports that the schedule for “12-12-12” has McCartney and West, along with The Who, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, and Roger Waters, each playing 45-minute sets. The rest of the announced acts will join one or more of the main acts on stage. The lineup includes Jon Bon Jovi, Billy Joel and Alicia Keys. For now, organizers plan on the entire show taking four-and-a-half hours.
Sykes says the “final, final lineup” is yet to be announced. Won’t be long now.
