I may have said bad things about the guy’s music before, but what’s happening to him isn’t funny! According to Spinner (which got it from TMZ of course) Jon Bon Jovi’s 19-year-old daughter was arrested on Wednesday at her New York college, after allegedly overdosing on heroin!
Stephanie Rose Bongiovi was reported unresponsive, so the cops and emergency medical personal were called at her dorm room at Hamilton College. They found a small quantity of heroin on the scene, and fortunately, she was still alive. She was nevertheless arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana, then released from custody later but will have to appear in court at a later date.
Bon Jovi seems to be such a clean family guy, and he has admitted in interviews not being a 'drug guy’ at all, as Spinner reports:’ I've never been a drug guy. I've always felt I didn't have the mental stability to handle drugs.’
But your children don’t always follow your example apparently, and a friend declared to the New York Daily News that she ‘has been undergoing a drug problem for quite some time’ and that ‘friends and family have been worried about her and unsuccessful in getting her to rehab’. He added: 'she wasn't listening to anyone. Sometimes her friends wouldn't hear from her for weeks. We were all scared for her but didn't know what to do’.
So a good parental example, plenty of money, what it seems to be a very stable family (her parents have been married for more than 23 years!), probably an opportunity to attend a prestigious and expensive college, but still an overdose?… I always wonder what make people take drugs, and it’s not always easy to understand. Heroin is an analgesic, a psychic pain killer, used as a self-medication, and usually associated with depression or violent homes or parental neglect. But it doesn’t seem to fit the profile here, … who knows?
Anyway, we all wish her a speedy recovery.
