Mayday Parade "Somebody That I Used To Know" ft. Vic Fuentes, Reviewed

Punk Goes Pop!  I adore this series!! Some of the cutest bands doing pop songs with a twist.  Nothing punk about it that's for sure but perhaps they mean 'punk' as in rogue?

Mayday Parade is a band that should be much bigger than they are.  They have the sound, the face gimmick and boom.  Still not breaking out.  Why?  Bad management?  Too much competition?  I have no idea but one thing is for sure.  This new cover of Goyte's "Somebody That I Used To Know" does absolutely nothing for my theory.

This has to be the most horrible cover Punk Goes has ever done.  The music is horrific the vocals pathetic and usually you can count on an awesome hip rendition of a really popular tune.  In this case it sounds like the 11th grade garage band trying to book a gig for a school dance.  Totally loosing the original vibe and replacing it with absolutely nothing of value.

Adding Vic Fuentes of Pierce The Veil actually dumbs down this tune more than it already was.  Hey two singers killing a song means no one is too blame.  The problem is that both Fuentes and Derek Sanders (lead of Mayday Parade) are outstanding showmen and singers and assigned this nightmare sound like absolute crap.

This track wins the 'Worse Punk Goes Pop Cover Of All Time", and I don't know if there is anyway to recover my love of either of these guys.  What the hell were they thinking?!
