Having come late to the Blur appreciation table it brings me great joy to say they may well be back for good. I also must say I am being a bit overzealous as its simply a few blurbs about potential new shows in places like Belgium. Its not so much the prospect of live gigs that excite me but rather the prospect of more recordings. As a newbie to fandom everything still sounds very fresh to me. I may have heard "Parklife" ten thousand times but its all really recent and therefore very new.
The band had told fans earlier this year that their set in London's Hyde Park to mark the end of the 2012 Olympics in August would be their last -looks like that was a fib because on the bands Facebook page its a different story.
Thank you for waiting… Rock Werchter is about to announce that Blur will headline next July. We're excited… Hope to travel in 2013 to play to more of our lovely fans who we haven't seen for a while. Don't know where yet, we'll tell as soon as we do."
Say what? That certainly doesn't sound like 'the end' on the contrary it sounds like a reunion! OK, wait maybe just a few dates in Eastern Europe. Look all I am asking for is more recordings. Seems their method of commumication is Facebook so stay tuned for more.
