Watch a 50-Minute Concert Of The Wallflowers On Letterman

I am probably out of the loop with anything related to late night TV, so I had no idea such a thing existed: live concerts you can stream on the internet, as part of the Live on Letterman series? We are not talking about one or two songs but a 50-minute show, and on Thursday, the Wallflowers performed a concert, just a few days before the release of their album ‘Glad All Over’ on October 9.

I hadn’t heard about the Wallflowers for quite some time, and Jakob Dylan apparently manages to have a good career despite the enormous shadow watching him over his shoulders. They played a few old songs I recognized '6th Avenue Heartache', 'Three Marlenas' and 'One Headlight',  and then a song very much into the Clash style, 'Reboot The Mission' from the new album… I had no idea the Clash was an inspiration for the band, Jakob mentions Joe Strummer in the track and I read that guitarist Mick Jones even plays on the studio version.

Beside this there is a lot to love in their Tom Petty-esque rock’ n ‘roll with wobbling organ and layered guitars, although the whole thing stays on the soft-gentle side. You will have to go to CBS to re-watch the show.
