Watch this image, it looks like a Spotify environment, except it is a little different… especially, do you see the ‘Download’ button in the top right corner?
When I was doing some research about music download and Spotify, I came across Spotydl, described as a software which let you download your Spotify music into mp3…. What? You mean steal all the songs from Spotify?
Spotydl has a website http://www.spotydl.com and you can download it for free (not that I encourage it, I certainly haven’t done it!) and even a facebook account, although it seems to be quite recent and not very well-known. There are even videos on YouTube to show how to use it. So that’s it, you can use it and rip off all the songs you like when using Spotify, store them as mp3s and use them like any other songs in your iTunes library.
I know it is already pretty easy to get free music on the internet, but what does this new thing say about our society? Each time there’s gonna be a new way to listen to music on the internet, people will find it to get it for free. The eagerness to own the track instead of just simply stream it, is still very strong.
Spotify has a huge music library, even though Spotydl may not be totally working yet – I have read reports about bugs, viruses and crashes – it may be well be the next trend?? Who knows? And it is probably not the only software which just does this. Musicians had all the good reasons to get worry about Spotify!
