I've been telling people this will be the first time I'm seeing the band since the 2000 CSN&Y tour, but that is a lie. I saw a truly awful set at Lincoln Center in the mid mid 00s, and a much better set at the Rock And Roll Hall Of fame.
But it feels like the first fulls since 2000 and a reading of the current setlist is pretty amazing. A coupla newbies true, but, with the exception of a curiously MIA "Suite:Judy Blue Eyes", everything is present and accounted for and the only question left is… can they sing em? My bet, yes to Nash, not so much for Crosby and Stills.
If you have tix to the Monday October 22nd show at the Beacon, well, you will definitely gonna hear "Judy" as they will playing their entire first album. Tempting but I went for Saturday's show because, well because it's a Saturday. And I dunno, it could be a real drag but I went nearly $200 for 7th row and I am just hoping that this will be a show to take with me. The 2000 was a masterpiece though to be honest, Young ran roughshod over his friends. And I mean was the real reason it was so big.
Listening to a quick mix of the setlist now, I am feeling a little dozy anyway plus they don't play Steve Stills last great song "Faith In Me" and mores the pity. As three part harmonies go my gut is it aint gonna be harmonizing too sweetly but… what the hell, none of us are getting any younger. One more time, right?
You can have your choices on the 5 night stand:. October 16th, 17th, 19th, 20th, 22nd.
