Prince has a new single? And it debuted on the radio not on the internet? What year is it? 1985? I am joking, the song, entitled ‘Rock’ N Roll Affair’ (‘RNR Affair’), was actually aired on iHeartRadio.com several times, and you can listen to it below… But is Prince aware that we can download the song? I thought he was totally against this evil thing called the internet…
The R&B groove of the song is totally cool, although very retro-familiar! Many people have noticed some similarity with ‘Take Me With U’… Hella yes! these synths sound totally sampled from his own hit song, and, if you are a Prince’s fan, I guess it is not gonna be the only Prince's song that you will hear in the track.
So nothing new for Prince, but beside this, the tune has a nice bluesy side, an almost contained ‘Billie-Jean-thing going on, and it gets very catchy after a few listening.
Is it a come back? Is Prince recording a new album? Nobody knows, but he is planning his multi-show residency at the United Center next week, called ‘Welcome 2 Chicago’, so it looks like it’s Prince time's again!
