Cat Power has released a video for ‘Cherokee’, a song off her new album ‘Sun’, and should I say it is quite strange? Who would have thought that friendly Chan would have come up with this zombies-in-the-desert idea for this one?
With a punk-rocker look and a new haircut, she and a guy fight against zombies with a futuristic gun under a scorching hot sun,… there are also magic crystals, a dog (the same one that was at Amoeba!) and other people in Native American outfits involved, but I don’t know exactly what’s going on. It looks like Mad Max or some sort of post-apocalypse science fiction movie and I wonder whether this puzzling scenario was necessary for this inspiring song…
May be she needed to physically kill her demons, may be she wanted to say she is truly a survivor? And what about these triangles on the chest of the zombies-attackers? Could they have anything to do with her ex-boyfriend’s religion? I am just saying… just google triangles and Scientology! Either she is really mad at him, or I have become too obsessed with the Master! Oh well, may be I will need another talk with Chan for some explanation.
