I got to Bowery Ballroom around six and left eight hours later and with the leader of one of the great bands at our time willing to discuss anything, I kinda blew it.
Why? Nerves. Booze. I hadn’t done a big time face to face interview in a quarter of a century. I had only been streaming the new album for a week. I forgot how (dreading transcribing the tape) to do it.
The set was a sprawling roar that reminded me of the Dead at MSG if the Dead at MSG had the greatest songs ever written.
Right, I’m going back to sleep.
