Amanda Palmer, "Theatre Is Evil" Reviewed

If ever there was a angry young lady its Amanda.  Its easy to forget behind her Vassar looking unshaven persona.  Shes the arty annoying bitch in the thrift shop sweater who goes on and on about politics til you want to kill her.  So do me a favor. I beg you, just don't look.  Don't look at the art don't look at a video just ignore her face and her interviews and banter.  For the good of all that is holy do NOT get the commentary version of her new album- bitch needs to clamp it.

Just shut up and listen. "Smile (Pictures or it Didn't Happen) is a perfect opening tune.  Where Palmer plays with her magnificent voice from that throaty vibe to screaming banshee.'No one dead can use a camera', a symphonic beauty ushering us into what will be a glorious and empowering visit into womanhood. And I fucking hate woman so this is saying allot.

"The Killing Type" I have reviewed.  Its my new theme song.  The 80's beat sounds almost 'Johnny and Mary" Robert Palmer to me.  Remember that song.  But this one is a bit darker, if you can imagine that. There is a hiccup in the vocals that makes it a sing along in a dark dark alley.  Its dark cabaret despite the shit video.  I will belt this song out every morning in the shower brilliant, even the tempo changes are brilliant.  Theres a brutal bass drum kick going on too, almost tribal anger.  Adore this track.

"Do It With A Rockstar" is anthemic in its opening and another stellar track on this brilliant album.  "do you wanna get drunk and stay the night".Repeatedly asking the questions of a woman going mad.  Its a dance number with a fist.  Little Amanda, well done my girl.  Thank you for not being that idiotic jerk singing about her hairy crotch.  We can just forgive you for the God awful 'Map of Tasmania", you my darling are redeemed.

"Want it Back", 'A Grand Theft Intermission" and "Bottomfeeder all live in 1984.  Synthy tunes with quirky lyrics all held together with that outrageously gorgeous voice Palmer uses to sing with.  Again, never mind her talk- just music shes only music and if we keep reminding ourselves of this we wont have to hate her.  She really shouldn't be hated- she is insanely talented and a fabulous writer.

"The Bed Song" is a beauty of a story of complacent relations.  As a newlywed I wonder what sparked this little tune.  This is the lament of every suburban mcMansion and its so well written and performed that the story is real.  Her inspiration for this, was every couple she knows, its pathetic and its accurate.

"Massachusetts Avenue", is her punk rock tune.  Another great story of her homeland.  Yo Boston, howarya.  Shes such a typical Mass girl.  That crunchy granola type.  But with the help of a good synth she sounds nearly Lene Lovich, No wonder I love it!

"Melody Dean", is a sharp rip off The Knack and how lovely it is updated and revamped.  Go ahead dance around the room, its ok, no one is looking. I swear she loves Lene too and doesn't admit it.  Now remember you can get the 'commentary version' if you'd like to know what she is writing about, but I would hate everything. So I wont do it.  I'll leave that for the scholars.

"Theatre is Evil" is the my album of the year. Wait, Its the only new album I have listened to more than twice in its entirety.  The LP came out yesterday and I am on listen number 6 and I'm no where near done.  I am so excited that this album wasn't another 'Who Killed Amanda Palmer", this is Dresden Dolls caliber solo work and my faith is restored.  Amanda Palmer is my spirit animal, as long as I close my eyes and she doesn't speak.

To those who kicked in to Kickstarter…….fuck yes!  THANK YOU!!
