REM Serves Fox News

Remember when REM were a cool band?  Remember when Michael Stipe looked healthy?  Remember how different and interesting they were? I actually loved "It's The End Of The World As We Know It", that was a champ ditty.

Then things went wrong.  Stipe began losing weight in absurd buckets.  I honestly thought he either had AIDS or cancer- he looked so very ill. Discovered years later though that he battled bulimia, nearly a rarity in men and all the sadder.  Then there were the stacks of t-shirts he would wear.  Taking them off in succession on the music awards shows to promote all his causes.  "Save the Seals", "Save the Music", "Save this…".. it was boring it was annoying and REM then ceased to exist.

They're in the news now for serving up a cease and desist with Fox news.  Seems since the lack of mention of God in the Democratic Agenda, gave Fox the idea to use a snip from "Losing My Religion" as the fade out tune for their Democratic Convention coverage.

Leave it to Stipe to bicker with this quote: (through its music publisher, Warner-Tamerlane Music,) demanded that Fox News cease and desist from continuing its unlicensed and unauthorized use of the song. Michael Stipe said, 'We have little or no respect for their puff adder brand of reportage. Our music does not belong there.'

"Puff adder", how out of touch is Stipe anyway and where the hell is their career?  I'm no fan of the Democratic Convention or Fox News but Jesus really?  Its over and done with.
