I was so deep into the FYF coverage that I am sure I have missed tons of news, important news,… such as this one about Nicki Minaj supporting Mitt Romney! Honestly what is it about? In a stupid new rap song released on Sunday (on Lil Wayne’s new mix tape, ‘Dedication 4’ to be precise), the always provocative Minaj is declaring her support for the republican candidate with the lines:
‘I’m a Republican voting for Mitt Romney/You lazy bitches is fucking up the economy’
I will spare you from the rest and her non-sense lyrics about C section (?), but this line of hers is pretty clear isn’t it? What does she know about the economy and is she doing this out of pure provocation or is she sincere? Why is she doing it when Romney has received about zero support from the black community? As much as I hate this expression, it is still a reality in most people’s mind.
If she is doing it for publicity and attention, it obviously worked, but she now has to worry about her fans, who are strongly reacting: Minaj has even received death threats on Twitter and other social networks. It was also reporting a little later she is not even registered to vote, but this is beside the point, she expressed an 'opinion' and this is what matters.
Actually, she may be the most honest of all her peers, commercial rap is now mostly represented by super rich guys singing about (beside sex) over-consumption, luxury cars, private planes and other products of opulence… these new rich can’t stop talking about how much they have, this is the only thing they have to say actually, and it would make sense to vote for someone who spare the high tax bracket people.
At the end, I don’t believe a minute she is endorsing Romney, remember, she is the girl who pissed off Catholics (and religious in general) during her 2012 Grammy performance, this pastiche of exorcism looked very anti-religious to me… plus, she is a strong feminine figure, and very much into gay rights (may be a lesbian herself?)… and this picture totally fits with the republican party! Now I want to hear 'Stupid Hoe' before Romney's next public speech.
