Survivalists are pretty cool folks. They're sure the world is going to hit ultimate disaster and gosh darnit they're going to survive it no matter what. I personally would run stark naked into he middle of the road and lie down- let me die. I would never want to be a 'survivor' in a world that has endured Armageddon. That stark 'Threads', 'Day After" world is to freaking freaky for me. Hell I couldn't survive a week without electricity. We in the northeast endured a huge storm last year and by day three of no power I was ready to go on a shooting spree.
This seasons Simpson has Homer becoming a 'prepper' not as in prep school attire but rather prepping for the end of the world. This episode to air in December will contain a very odd celebrity guest, Tom Waits.
Executive Producer Al Jean said the following:
“We did a lot of research into the ‘prepper’ phenomenon, where people are convinced that some horrible catastrophe – like an electromagnetic pulse – is going to occur, and that people will have to survive without the grid,” he says. “Homer becomes a prepper.”
Sounds hilarious and Homer never ages. Fair warning on this Waits will not sing and will portray himself but just adding him to the listing of rockers on The Simpsons is pretty cool. There is no doubt that the best episodes were The Ramones and Aerosmith but you really have to hand it to the producers of this show for keeping it interesting after all these years.
