Alanis Morrisette Guardian Angel Tour Dates

I have a love hate relationship with Alanis.  I don’t like her name.  I don’t like the grungy sort of unwashed look she came into the scene with.  She was your gross college roommate who never kept stuff clean.  That was my initial turn off to her. “Jagged Little Pill” was a masterpiece.  There I said it.  It was real girl rock.  Focusing on the girl power with just  a tiny bit of mixed emotion.  It was a great representation of a 20-30 something’s mind.  Perfection on a platter with just a touch of mascara.

But then she sorta morphed into this opinionated flag waver.  Boom I left her camp straight away.  Last thing I need in my life is some preachy broad in a wife beater.    This is the lament of the woman rocker.

How do you balance power and brain without coming across as a steaming bitch?  It’s not easy and very few can pull it off.  A chick like Alanis couldn’t, at least not to me.  But the campuses made her a demigoddess and patron saint of frump.

I did go to see her live.  I didn’t last her set but I had mixed feelings for that as well.  A woman front man really has to find a way to carry themselves.  She looked like a stretched out little boy.  Her words didn’t match her performance and my brain basically had to spit it out as useless noise.  A shame though, I wanted to love her.

She has a new album coming out on August 28.  “Guardian Angel”.  She has a couple decades under her belt now.  Some public relationships and meltdowns.  She wears more makeup , her hair is shorter- I still think she doesn’t shower that much.  A crunchy girl.

But hey now the girl is back on tour and headed at us.  I won’t attend but I will give the album a listen too- maybe she’s matured and morphed.  Hell, I’ll give it a shot.  Like I said, I want to like her.
