Woooo! I adore The Adicts. Old school from the heart punk rock with a melodic kick. Love the look love the clarity of vocals and well, I could go on forever- but I wont. Instead I will tell you about the amazing new release from this legendary punk rock band.
The look saves them. Since 1975 these guys have been producing fabulous British Punk. Monkey Warren has the most contagious vocals and the best part about all this is you can understand the words. That was the glory of old punk- it wasn't screaming or growling it was fast but comprehensive. This new offering is amazing and not fully nostalgic, though it does get you back in time.
I suggest you not go to their website, it shows them without makeup. They're rough but all suit and hatted they're cool cats. In celebration of their upcoming LP "All The Young Droogs", they have released the first single "Horrorshow", its not the best they've done, but its not the worse. Their new album is due out September 11th.
Its hard to follow up tunes like "Spank Me Baby', and "I Love You But Don't Come Near Me", which were the classics from 2008. The pub style sing along is still very much part of their shtick and you will sing along. Quick quirky lyrics with a punk rock beat, simple rock and roll performed by masters of their genre. Really what more could you ask?
How about seeing them live? Yeah that would be wonderful, I would love to see them in their Clockwork Orange inspired get ups- but alas its not to be. What sucks is that their tour is only West Coast and a bit of Florida then they're off to Brazil. What the hell? No New York or Boston? Seems crazy I'll keep an eye on it and see if we get some dates.
