Saint Motel are currently on a national tour, but this doesn’t stop them from releasing a brand new video for their song ‘1997’ off their last album ‘Voyeur’.
The band is well known for its cinematic abilities and this last one doesn't disappoint. Directed by frontman/vocalist A/J Jackson (with help from many friends), it was filmed at The famous Dresden in Los Angeles. The band describes it as an out of body experience while they are watching ‘a sinister version of the world famous lounge singers Marty & Elayne’.
For those not familiar with the lounge duo, husband and wife Marty and Elayne have been entertaining night clubbing crowds in Los Feliz for more than three decades, and Saint Motel’s video looks like some homage to this smoky-piano-bar era. ‘Marty and Elayne’ lip-synch the song while the band are really having a out of body experience? A spiritual/transcendental meditation? The song makes them go reach the heaven's gates, wasn't the song about this cult anyway?
