Dusty Springfield Tribute Broadway Bound

Dusty Springfield was an incredibly talented and beautiful British pop singer of the 60's and 70's who passed away in 1999.  Her songs have been redone and remastered and reproduced so many times that the lines of who originated are more than blurred. Songs including "I Only Want To Be With You", "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me"(which Elvis Presley totally nailed) and "Son of A Preacher Man", which got refreshment on the soundtrack for Pulp Fiction.

Distinct vocals and beauty make a star, but scandal and hardship make a story and a story make a play.  The show titled "Forever Dusty"

Kristen Holly Smith  started researching the singer a number of years ago. In 2006, and received the Spectrum Arts Grant from the University of Southern California for the  production at The Renberg Theatre in Los Angeles. Since then, she has performed as Springfield numerous times as she further developed the show that will soon be moving to New York.

Tribute shows are tricky business.Youre either a parody or a scary wanna be.  Without too much effort a great idea can become an almost insult to the integrity of an artist.  We have all seen 'bad' impersonations.  Although, most are done with love and hero worship they can still suck.  I have seen Presley impersonators that I was mortally embarrassed for.  I can say that it sounds pretty good, maybe get a seat in back.

The location and opening date for this production have not yet been announced.
