You like the Shins? You are dreaming about having a little talk with James Mercer? Well it can be a reality, if you have a little cash. There is a ‘Meet and Greet Experience with The Shins at the Concert of your Choice’ on sale on eBay, and the current bid is only $500,… but there are still 7 days left.
If you manage to win this bid, you will get two tickets to attend the Shins concert of your choice between September 22 and October 12, and you will get superstar VIP treatment with backstage access to meet the band, consisting of vocalist and multi-instrumentalist James Mercer, Richard Swift, Modest Mouse drummer Joe Plummer, Yuuki Matthews of Crystal Skulls and Jessica Dobson. They don’t say how long you will be allowed to stay with them, but of course any inappropriate behavior will result in the ending of the experience.
The dreamy experience is set up for charity and all the money will benefit two Grammy charities, the Grammy Foundation that ‘cultivates the awareness, appreciation and advancement of the impact on American culture through music education programs, scholarships and grants’, and MusiCares that ‘provides a safety net of critical financial assistance and services for music people in times of need’. A very good thing indeed.
Meet and greet? So I could have a whole discussion with them, like an interview? When I think about it, what are my chances that The Shins would accept an interview for Rock nyc? Iman sure destroyed any possibility after his negative review of their show a few months ago, but this is beyond the point, we are just too small for them! In 2012, James Mercer did interviews with Spin magazine, NPR and Pitchfork, but Rock nyc? Forget about it! So this could be my big chance,… except that the bid will very probably get much higher.
