Our touring diary writer Donny Saraceno has become an interesting member of the rocknyc family. His daily reports often set me up on my motherly heels buncha crazy kids in a van sleeping wherever all careless. But in the midst of the bands daily adventures I neglected something that I am shocked about. I have forgotten to explain to you all how really talented this band is. I may find their choice of band names odd (Google 'The Moms' and they aren't the first thing you find!) but they have their reasons and I suppose numerous bands have heard the same thing.
I wanted to share with you this music video for the song "Bedtime". Now, I honestly think I'm a pretty tough and rather bitchy woman and when it comes to music I either love you or hate you and then I move on. Bands I love today I can easily forget tomorrow. I live in a world where I have seen enough to consider myself jaded and really rather dismissive. That's just me.
So when I scanned the premise for the video I wrote it off as a Weezer like parody, that whole been there done that.. meh, whatever thing. But when I actually stopped, sat down and watched it. I nearly cried.
Yup…this is one of the most light heartedly powerful videos I have ever seen. As a matter of fact this video should be shown in every high school assembly starting now and ending never.
"I wont kill myself tonight cuz I'm pretty sure my friends with miss me". If every teenager was forced to recite this over and over instead of something lame like the Pledge of Allegiance maybe our society would be a bit stronger. Maybe kids would hang around with us a bit longer.
Sung with some pretty strong angst and scowl (from a very unassuming gent- where the hell does that he scream from?) This right here is the sing back dance along music needed in our dance halls. What a great band. Simple rock and roll with lyrics that actually mean something.
The video is well done- with the bands cameo's comedic and brief. What a fun group. Hell maybe there is a bit of Weezer in them and I LOVE PEZ!!! Just thought I would throw that out there.
The Moms…damn cool boys and you met them here first.
