Back in the 80's The Bangles were an all girl band who attempted to hop on the Go Go's train and produced some pretty catchy material. 'Walk Like An Egyptian" had the lot of you idiots bending your wrists and going all Nile.
Rather lame, but in a time of mullets and legwarmers it did just fine. Susanna Hoffs was the 'doe eyed' lead singer who had the boy droolin' and the girls frantically trying to duplicate her eye liner. She had a lovely voice and the tune "Manic Monday" has become a radio staple for the day after Sunday.
Well I suppose The Bangle girls took off and had kids and became soccer moms but Susanna is back with a solo offering titled "Someday', what bugs me? Its being referred to as 'intensely personal', well if that's the case keep it to yourself. What the heck is that all about?
"intensely personal song cycle that doubles as a musical love letter to the music of the 1960s, which "has always been my reference point for everything," says Susanna."
"This album was inspired by my yearning to sing songs that were as melodic and emotional as my favorite music of the 1960s," Susanna says. "We recorded ten original songs, eight of which I wrote in a flurry over a period of a few months with Andrew Brassell. He's a 27-year-old musician from Nashville, who's been on the indie club scene there since he was a teenager. So the project started with me, this talented boy from Nashville, two guitars and a reverb pedal."
Ok, now I am going to give you a moment to go back and read those quotes again.
Done? Yeah, you're right, it makes no sense whatsoever. Here is the translation. Shes pulling a Mrs Robinson on Andre Brassell and they made a record- which you may never even hear since it will tank at take off. She will tour small wine bars, 45+ year old housewives will get 'the girls' together and hire a sitter to go see it and scream "WOOO" and she will sing 'Walk Like An Egyptian' and ' Manic Monday' as the encore.
