Kickstarter Success Yet Again: The Devo Documentary

After Amanda Palmers stellar fundraising event it seems to be a successful trend.  Solicit donations to fund your art.  Apparently it works like a charm.  Fans will drop coin to be a part of a project they feel worthy and will get some token swag in the process.

Devo's documentary "Are We Not Men" seems a little too cult like niche but when it started its Kickstarter campaign it had a goal of $25,000.00, with more than 25 days left of their campaign they're at $39,000.00.  Amazing how profitable this can be- imagine going over on a funding request.  I do have to say that the donation levels are fair enough but the offerings as return on investment are pathetic.  They could have done better with that but I suppose it worked anyway.

The films producers are saying now that the $25,000.00 goal was very low ball and they could use more.  Another tacky move if you ask me.
"Please summon all Spuds in this Wiggly World to contribute so we can secure the rights, archives, and all cultural textures that surround this amazing group and their history. Duty Now."
Don't set a goal if its not your goal.

"The film is now in post-production, and we need your help to meet our September 2012 goal for Sundance and other festivals"

The trailer is cool, its hard to believe the start of the band who ended up being most famous for the God awful tune "Whip It" and flowerpot hats.  They were so much cooler before that point but hey someone had to pay the rent.
