Remember about the Iggy Pop-Best Coast collaboration for the HBO series ‘True Blood’ I was talking about a few days ago? You can now listen to ‘Let’s Boot and Rally’ via KCRW, and it’s actually a quite catchy tune, with a sort of Buzzcocks meets the Cramps meets the B-52’s feeling, and Iggy Pop’s creepy voice over some 76’s inspired beats – all these previous bands were curiously formed the same year, 1976! – and later on Bethany Cosentino’s sunnier backup vocals.
On KCRW blog, DJ Gary Calamar explained that he co-wrote the song with James Combs and sent the demo to Iggy Pop who had declared himself a big fan of 'True Blood'. Iggy loved the song and accepted to record it, and Gary got the idea to contact Bethany who ‘jumped at the chance to sing with Mr. Pop’,… and who wouldn’t?
The song will air this Sunday July 8 on the episode of True Blood, but go here and listen to it now!
