Twitter rules. I swear more people are reported dead on that social network in a day than on Fox News in a week.
Rumors spread that Gotye had officially become 'somebody that we used to know' after offing himself and even CNN got caught up in it with the following : 'At 4:32am EST, it was reported that Gotye had shot himself in the head with a 9mm handgun'. The story was quickly removed by CNN.
The report also claimed that the singer was taken to the Central Montmorency Hospital but died shortly after arrival. Their fact checker must have been on break for the holiday week or something. Hell if guitarist 'resent' being misidentified imagine being identified as dead.
In a Twitter post at around midnight Melbourne time Gotye posted, 'I'm not dead. #Pinkalbumtitles'. Well then, that'll show ya. I like that his response was so simple but wtf is 'pinkalbumtitles', was this whole death rumor a publicity act? If so.. did I just fall for it? I must admit I was slow on the uptake for "Somebody That I Used To Know" but now I can at least tell why people loved it so. Repetitive and moody, just like most people- worked like a charm. So maybe theres more electronic Prozac on the horizon?
