FIDLAR has posted a few days ago a demo of a new song ‘West Coast’ to their YouTube account, and the tune is so catchy it got stuck in my head like a sticky gum in frizzy hair. That’s a truly infectious party-song and the video comes with an amalgam of ‘Above the Influence’ public service announcements, warning you about different drugs, from nicotine to meth,… to lunesta!
The song is more poppy than usual, but the rhythm is very dynamic and the buried vocals talk about getting drunk and even worst, just perfectly trashy and decadent enough for FIDLAR, and oh yes, they have sampled this Partnership for a Drug Free America commercial featuring Henry Rollins… the one where he demonstrates the effect of meth on the heart by burning a car engine,
It is the perfect fucked-up video for this party band, but isn’t the message a little bit confusing? …You tell me!
