Is there anything better than catching a new act just after they've caught fire? I went to see fun. on Saturday night but that was an easy get compared to Grimes at Bowery Ballroom.
Kreyshawn's Canadian buddy is coming off a very popular album, Visions, and an instantaneous sell out of Mercury Lounge to be followed by an instantaneous sell out of the AMEX presale of her October 26th, 2012 gig at Bowery Ballroom.
This is a real sad story; at noon on Wednesday I hit buy on TM and my damn PC froze. So I broke out and rebooted. Maybe 90 seconds. And it was gone. So Friday during the onsale, guess Elvis had left the building but gave it a shot any way and got one. For the shits and giggles, I tried for another and it was sold out.
Now hot buzz band does not necessarily mean a good concert, pace Lana Del Rey, but it does mean an exciting vibe and a sense of even if it sucks a happening. I love the sense of exclusiveness in a sold out show as well!
As for Grimes, I enjoy the album though there is something a little off putting about it: I am not sure if all the parts actually add up… but I am willing to find out!
