You'd think Neil Young croaked or something. Seems you cant go five feet without hearing his name. Everyone is on the band wagon and he's getting Johnny Cash props from the alty crowd. Why and how this works is beyond me- but every now and then some old artist resurfaces and becomes a 48 hour demi God. Its Neil Young's turn.
The not so shabby band City and Color took on the classic "You Are Like a Hurricane" and took the nasal twangy 70s classic and made it…better. The pausing placement of words made them much more meaningful than the original. Neils singing it straight through, this version has more inflection as if they are actually conveying a thought rather than just singing lyrics.
Musically sorry- the original wins and not just due to quality of recording, the music was karaoke, You cant sound like a classic without sounding like a rip off unless you make it your own, City and Color chose not too and it shows. Lyrically a big win- musically not so much.
