Must See: Frank Ocean In July, 2012

Look, we all know Frank Ocean, the Odd Future resident tunesmith, ain't Babyface. But ask yourself this: who is? And while we are agreeing that he is not ready to claim the greatest living r&b soungwriter crown from whoever owns it, also ask yourself this: who the hell owns it?

Maxwell?

D'Angelo?

Anyone at all?

Whatever he ain't, Ocean is still a great songwriter, a good singer, and a member of any posse who will pay him including Kanye and Jay-Z's,

So after missing him at Bowery Ballroom, and approving of his "White" at the career spanning Odd Future gig at Hammerstein, I would have gone gangsta and ponied up to a ticket broker if I had to. And I didn't have to. A day late, I got mine Saturday afternoon for Frank at T5 on Thursday,  July 26th.

Incidentally, I've never heard the mix tape but I just made an Ocean's play list from singles and Odd )futures) and sods and it sounds great. Get a tix because otherwise you'll have to spend your life pretending you were there.
