See another reason to love Usher.. from the 'who the heck gives a hoot file…"
I love this story and appreciate the tip from the "Yeah" singer- why I haven't thought of this before is well beyond me.
When Usher dines out- he asks for a cup of boiling water…why? To drop in the cutlery! See he isn't a germaphobe but cant stand the thought of dirty forks and will usually request new silverware.
Seriously, think about it. When you go out for dinner and the food arrives you are using the same fork that has slipped in to hundreds of mouths. Yes of course, they're washed but how well? Oh and what went down with them once they got out of the magic cleaning machine? They sat in a tray with other germ crusted forged metals and then you lift it to your lips….
The thought of that has always horrified me so I'm considering Usher to be a genius. I don't know why I wouldn't have thought of that myself. Ok Ok, I am teeny bit of a germaphobe and with good reason- this is vile. How about the plate? You're moving your food around on a platter that housed many meals before it–most ceramics and porcelains are porous. The thought is a nightmare I chose not to dwell on. Come to think of it I am not so sure that boiling water is sufficient. Blow torch and sani-lamp? I just don't think Bob the dishwasher is really sterilizing that stuff and neither does Usher.
When not available he resorts to the hot water bath! So cool, as he told People Magazine… "It's my pet peeve when I go to a restaurant and the silverware isn't new. So I always ask for a tall glass of boiling hot water, put the knife and fork in it and clean them off. But I'm not a germaphobe!"
