I had this friend in the 80's who used to confuse The Smiths with Smithereens. She also drank alot of peppermint schnapps from the bottle and would spray her hair with lacquer while smoking in the car- I always thought we would explode with one false ash but it never happened. The point is she had a few missing brain cells, actually shes the same one who threw me in a pool while I was carrying a plugged in radio…maybe she just wanted to kill me.
Smithereens are NOT The Smiths and never will be. They were a pop band of the 80s with a marginal hit " A Girl Like You" and an uncomfortably nasal vocalist who really, you could only take so much of. They haven't done much but tribute recordings and some Christmas stuff since 2011 and prior to that nothing original since 1998.
But there are bills to pay and egos to stroke so bring on the nostalgia tours!
