At some point you gotta say, OK I get it, John Mayer is a scuzz but he is a fucked up, rock star, great guitarist publicly scorned fucked up and leave him alone a little.
I myself have called him a walking STD in this very post (acrtually, that’s how I always refer to him) but… but…
GLAAD (the Gay Lesbian group) are after him for another quote from his Playboy interview:
“The only man I’ve kissed is Perez Hilton… I was dating Jessica (Simpson) at the time, and I remember seeing Perez Hilton flitting about this club and acting as though he had just invented homosexuality. All of a sudden I thought, I can outgay this guy right now. I grabbed him and gave him the dirtiest, tongue-iest kiss I have ever put on anybody – almost as if I hated fags…”
The apology they want is for using the word fag.
I hate it when guys get in trouble for words like nigger and fag with no sense of context.
Chris Rock has said that the only time a white man can use the epithet nigger is if you have been mugged, shot, and left dead by a black person and then you can point and shout “somebody get the nigger”.
I don’t see it.
2010 and we still haven’t figured out that an earlier comedian who paved the way DIRECTLY to Chris Rock, the great Lenny Bruce, was RIGHT. In his infamous “How many kikes in this room? Spics? Niggers? So that’s 3 spics, 2 niggers and a kike, can I get a guido”. Racism is for mocking, words like fag and nigger ARE JOKES. They should be euthanazed through use.
Does GLAAD think Mayer’s words were anti-gay or lesbian? Of course they don’t. Don’t be silly.
Eve Ensler in her The Vagina Monologues tried to save the word “Cunt”. Her point was well taken, there is a million miles of difference between saying “I want to suck your wet ciunt” and “You cunt I’m gonna kill you”. Cunt is a great word. So is fag. Actually, so is nigger. They are words that break out in text. If a homosexual is being beaten up by some latent cases while being called a fag, would it help one bit if they were calling him gay at the time?
Mayer is Ok on this one, the one Helen Bach reported on was real racism and another matter entirely. Saying you wouldn’t date a black woman is racist, saying I love my niggers isn’t.
