Well we sure as hell know there are tons of aged Dexys Midnight Runners fans out there. Claims have been made that the band are just as strong with 'new' material yet for some reason they decided to kick back and relax on the one hit they actually had. Yes, yes, there were more hits but not in the US.
In the US they were a one hit wonder in overalls and fiddle. In Europe they had marginal success but the band fractured leaving only Rowland and his followers- the talent of the band took off for other ventures, and it showed.
So get a load of these guys rekindling their youth in a sad attempt to gain exposure. The prolonged intro (with humming!) is regretful, the slow downed tempo is tribute to the aged members lack of stamina and sorry kids but Mr Rowlands voice is shot. The 'too rha loo rah's' crack. Sad really……..sad.
In this song, I do believe they're asking Eileen to come on with her cane and sweater to catch the early bird special at the local pub. Hang it up guys, you're embarrassing the grandchildren.
