William Becket "Walk The Talk" EP Review

William Beckett released a new EP titled Walk The Talk.  I loved Beckett back in The Academy Is…, so I was eager to hear his latest.

"Oh, Love!" is a tune that first struck me as something I'd typically hate.  The cliche beginning that sounds like a thousand other songs, an unoriginal beat; everything I loathed from the second I hit play.  However, his voice automatically drew me in.  It's so beautiful, and is definitely the saving grace- along with the lyrics.  The vocals are not only far superior to every other element, but it makes it stand out.  It sounds like a good summer song; I like it a lot.

I love "Girl, You Shoulda Been A Drummer".  I have recently become a fan of more spoken-word vocals (eg, La Dispute).  It's by far the best song on the EP.  Super catchy, really fun, and a flawless rhythm.  I couldn't help but bounce a bit and have a smile on my face.  It's such a cool song and I can't get enough of it.  I think it's the best tune that Beckett has ever done, in his whole career.

The feel of "Compromising Me" really appeals to me, even though I can't quite put my finger on what makes it so great.  The vibe it gives off is so chill and makes me really happy- I was in an instant good mood once I heard it.  It's one of the best feelings, and I always got it when listening to TAI…, so it's so nice to see that Beckett can still carry that out and bring me back those feelings.

Walk The Talk is far superior to anything that The Academy Is… has ever done; check it out.
