"Take Your Mama" The Scissor Sisters Reviewed

It suddenly became 1972.  Who is this?  ELO?  Old Elton John? Some other white boy afro sporting in bell bottoms?  Nah, its just The Scissor Sisters.

For the first couple minutes I thought I was going to love this song.  The music really is vintage Elton John and the verse voice is fabulous its the chorus that made me cringe.  Its the "yeah" that sounds far too rehearsed.  Don't get me wrong the song doesn't suck at all.  Its actually very fun and very retro but its also very retro… in other words, there is effort there to sound that way.

Make no bones about it, Elton John was one of the masters of rock.  Before he decided to be Benny Hill. he was genius.  Then he became a parody and now a nightmare.  The Scissor Sisters have a pretty fun tune in their repertoire.

Sounding like a legend without seeming to try is great gift.  They try and it works.  Do I have to grade this?  Yeah, I think I will a big tough B+
