Coachella is a magic place where everybody collides and everything can happen! I mean, if a nuclear bomb had dropped at this place last weekend, 99% of the music industry would have vanished, this just to say there is a higher concentration of people linked to the music industry than bees on a honeycomb on a spring day.
This leads to M83’s Anthony Gonzalez posting on his facebook wall after his performance in Coachella:
'I think I saw Katy Perry dancing on midnight city yesterday night. Katy, let me write your next album:)'
These two needed Coachella to interact, but it’s difficult to know whether he was kidding or being serious! He would have to work very hard on his electro-dance-pop to give some kind of substance to a Katy Perry album, but may be she actually would use a little less auto-tune?
If he was joking, he should be careful as she sure seemed to enjoy M83’s set, texting a ‘M83 ONLY’ on Twitter during the French duo’s performance…. She actually may contact him.
On the other hand, if he was not joking, what does it mean for Katy Perry, she sure doesn’t need any help to sell more records as she just had five No 1 singles!! Let’s just say that a collaboration M83-Perry is way more conceivable than one with the Teenage Dream-girl and Radiohead, another band she was praising via Twitter at Coachella!
But would this mean she wants to go more hip-indie all a sudden? She definitively seems to be looking for an Indie hook as NME also revealed she was spotted hand in hand with Florence and the Machine’s guitarist Robert Ackroyd at Coachella during the Calvin Harris/Rihanna set. If it is really serious, as this guy is credited for some songs on ‘Lungs', she may not need Gonzalez’s help after all.
