I am still beating myself over this, but what can you do? It’s too late!!!! Last night, indie band and new LA sensation Haim was playing at the Echoplex, and surprise,… the sister trio was joined on stage by Ryan Adams for a song!!
I said I’m still beating myself because I had just read an LA Times article praising their original style of ‘husky, staccato harmonies and a bristling', and their 'minimalist sound crafted since childhood jam sessions with their musician parents’, which sometimes ‘embraces the finely aged cheese of '80s R&B’. The article was also saying that Ryan Adams was a fan of the band, so I thought about going for a few minutes. But you know how it is, a long day, too much school work, and I need to sleep sometimes… so I have missed Ryan jamming with the three girls on a version of Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Oh Well’. Yes, Oh well!
According to NME, Ryan Adams appeared on stage without noticed, as bassist Este Haim commented: ‘He totally Wizard of Oz'd us’
The band has released a debut EP, ‘Forever’ available for free download on their website http://haimtheband.com, and you can have a taste of it below. I don’t know, I am not really sold at the first listening, these tracks undoubtedly have this 80s feeling that I have never been a fan of, but live is always a different experience.
Anyway, if I had gone, you would have a video of the whole thing with Ryan Adams by now,… just saying!
