Tom Waits is in town April 24th and April 25th, 2012. The Tuesday he will be playing Letterman, the Wednesday Fallon according to brooklynvegan. No local date announced but, really, you had a better chance of cashing in on the $580M MegaBucks lotterry than scoring a tix to Waits first local concert in over a decade.
Waits was last here in 1999 and I caught the set. I thought he was very good as well. The first hour an "A', the second hour a "B+"). But I don't think there is a chance in hell I will get to see him if he plays onenight at a Beacon, Roseland or T5. Perhaps, there will a presale, though after my Scissor Sister debacle, I am less than sure about that either.
Best chance? I'll call NBC and try and get on the guestlist for April 25th and hope he plays an extended set at the end, then rush off to the Sy Fy Upfront gig at the Museum Of Natural History. Sy Fy ae promising some bands as well, so it is a case of decisions, decisions.
One thing… no ticketbrokers. I am not paying $500 for a nosebleed. uh huh. Not me. As God is my witness, I will not go hungry again to go to a concert unless I REAAAAAALLLY wanna see it. And Waits, I dunno. I wasn't obsessed with his last album and see no reason to sell the farm.
Anyway, we don't know if he is playing a gig -One Direction didn't. About the only time, well, this and the Grammy's, you'll read One Direction and Tom Waits in the same sentence.
