Singles Going Steady: Album Reviews For Week Of March 26th, 2012

Kids In The Street – The All American Rejects – Not much, but not much with a melody and a back beat. the lyrics are nowhere, but on songs like single "Beekeeper's Daughter", what they lose in coherence they make up for in Beatle references. Grade: B

All Waters – Perfume Genius – Genius? Deeply atmospheric, slow, organ grinding, poetic and with moments of intense beauty that makes the slog worthwhile. Just not often enough. Grade: B

The Night The Sun Came Up – Dev – A pop wannabe who got sampled by Far East Movement and may again, though her chirpy too doctored vocals can get unnerving. Hey, there's Fabolous. Grade: B-Th

Happy To You – Miike Snow – The modern dance band as bores without pariel. It's been a long time since "Animal" and nothing here comes close. Grade: B-

Teenage Dreams – The Complete Confection – Katy Perry – 7 additional songs, all second tier or remixes. Grade: B+… B Plus? Sales matter

Covered – Macy Gray – Never just as good as the song being covered, but never better than the best. Grade: B+

The MF Life – Melania Fiona – Jay-Z's find is no Rihanna. Vooce is smokey and jazz flected r&b. Songs ain't much. Grade: C+

Steadfast – Clay Aiken – Perfect for Grandma -just don't tell her Clay is gay. Grade: B

En Vivo! – Iron Maiden – Live in Spain… if you can call this living. Grade: B
