Fuzzy art school boys from Chi-town. That's Maps and Atlases. Hipster? Yup, totally and could well be the poster dudes for the entire scene.
Right now they are streaming their new tune "Fever". Although these guys have been around since 2004, they're still fighting the fight for fame. They did score a deal with Pabst Blue Ribbon beer though, when it was advertised on The Onion. Considering how hip The Onion is there is no surprise there!
This song is lovely. I have to point out that vocally they do hit the Kings of Leon spectrum at points. This is your familiar happy bar band sound with a dab of beanie chic. How is that for a descriptive? See bands like this cannot stand out alone until they catch a massive break. Maps and Atlases deserve Kings of Leon status more than KOL do. Why? Well musically they are far superior. Catchy riffs with modern flare that is pleasant unjaring and void of ego box mentality.
