OK, Meaty is a cheat but not that big a cheat because a lot of it is songs that really didn't fit into any album. Oh and a live album and a concept album. Maybe I should throw in Who's Next or A quick One somewhere…
So what? So Keith Moon, the greatest rock and roll drummer of all time, was a very funny guy. I was good friends with this man who was a bell boy (bell man!) at the Excelsior Hotel in Manchester, and he crowned Moon the greatest rock and roll star of em all. And he would know. He claimed Moon was an uproariously funny guy and anybody who has seen any film at all (I never saw the Who with him on drums) of Keith would probably second that emotion.
Moon recorded a Monty Pythonesque comedy album in 1979 and then died before it was released.
Considered a lost treasure all these years, an engineer on the album has found an acetate and hopefully we will be getting it soon…
