When UK bands don't break the US, you can kinda figure they were too parochial to jump the pond. The Jam, for instance. Compared to the Clash, they never got out of Grammar school. English songs for English lads.
But that doesn't explain the self-lacerating genius that was the Stone Roses. Charter members of "Madchester", they were the missing link between booze and Molly in aural form. An old time rock and roll band with one foot in dance. And HUGE in England, esentially because of their eponymous first.
20 years later, they have reunited and tix are changing hands in the UK for $150,000. But so far, they won't be playing nyc, where they could certainly sell out a coupla nights at Radio City Music.
So, great band reunited and that's cool. But now hear this. Opening acts for their June concerts in Professor Green
1. Primal Scream
2. Professor Green
3. Beady Eye
I think they should bring all three over (I've never seen Professor Green) and have a Stoned Fest!!!
But whether they do or not, I wanna see the Stone Roses so they better make it over.
