Beside ‘Abraham’s Daughter’, Arcade Fire has composed another track for the over-hyped movie ‘The Hunger Games’. I have not seen the film but it is breaking all the records thanks especially to the young audience, so it seems to be a good deal for the Canadian band.
Stereogum has one minute preview of ‘Horn Of Plenty’, the orchestral track composed by Win and Régine, which is supposed to be the ‘national anthem of the fascist Capitol’, as Win explained.
And the track delivers all this, it is John Williams material, 180º screen, big drums and horns, gigantic orchestration with soviet-army-choirs,… as huge as the movie box office results.
I don’t recognize anything from Arcade Fire anymore in this Hollywood production, sure they got a little help from James Newton Howard who made the movie version of their original composition, but this is peplum movie score, what happened to the indie band? Ha yeah, I remember, they won a Grammy.
