Dexys Midnight Runners are now Dexys. They lost half their name and half their fun. The oddest offering for free download on their soundcloud page is "Nowhere Is Home".
A soul filled slow jam with pretty lyrics and all the makings of a great tune. One thing stops it- the accent. Kevin Adams vocals are great and I am very glad he is proud of his Irish heritage (as mentioned numerous times in this tune) but the vocals dont work.
If you make this an instrumental it would be a perfect Sunday morning song. If we could find another vocalist or if Adams could tone it down a bit and perhaps not swallow when he enunciates (so as not to get that bullfrog effect) there would be hope. Otherwise, this song will amount to nothing more than a pub tune at Dexys local.
